Help Us Divert Waste From Landfill

Adelaide Cemeteries are now trialling a two-bin system throughout our cemeteries.

Where previously all waste collected went to landfill, we’re now asking you to help minimise our environmental footprint by sorting your waste before throwing it out.

Bins will now be separated into general waste and green/organics waste – with bins clearly marked with the appropriate sign. Where possible these bins will be adjacent to each other and we appreciate you sorting your waste before disposing of it.

To learn more about what can go in each bin, see the categories below. We thank you for helping us to minimise our impact on the earth.

  • Fake Flowers, Bouquet Wrappings & Cellophane
  • Floral Foam
  • Soft Plastics
  • Broken Glass
  • Ceramics
  • Fabric
  • Textiles
  • Bottles and Cans
  • Real Flowers – please remove all wrappings and cellophane and place in general bin, before placing flowers in organics bin.
  • Leaves and Grass Clippings – place plastic bags in general bin
  • Dog Waste – only in a compostable bag
  • Compostable Coffee Cups and Lids
  • Tissues and Paper Towel
  • All Food Scraps – put not the packaging

Please only place organic material that can be composted in this bin. If you are unsure your item is compostable, please place it in the general bin. This helps us reduce green bin contamination.
