Events

Adelaide Cemeteries organise a number of interesting and diverse events throughout the year. These are open to the general public and we welcome you to attend, you don’t need to have a loved one in our care to benefit from these events. The majority of them are free but do require registrations to ensure capacities can be met.

Strengthening our ongoing relationship with our families, we offer memorial services for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and All Souls’ Day. These are designed to be a time to reflect, thank and celebrate the lives of those we have lost, led by a celebrant or priest, they are relatively short in time – allowing time for you to visit your loved one’s site or enjoy a light refreshment and pay your respects in your own way.

We also run a number of general public events throughout the year, to encourage people to visit our cemeteries and start the important discussion about their end of life wishes. These events take a number of formats and are done with the utmost respect and care of those laid to rest.

Following on from sell-out seasons in previous years, Death Over Dinner is a unique, informative night – breaking down barriers and taboos surrounding death.

Join us Friday 19 April 2024, from 5:30pm for an evening hosted by Adelaide Cemeteries that transforms challenging conversations into ones characterised by deep engagement and empowerment.

Held this year at state-of-the-art Evergreen Community Precinct, you’ll enjoy a delicious 3 course sit-down meal, while hearing from a distinguished panel of experts as they talk through breaking down barriers and stigmas surrounding death.

The AIF section at West Terrace Cemetery was the first dedicated Soldier’s Burial Ground in the commonwealth, being established in 1920. It is now the final resting place of more than 4100 service personnel. As part of paying our respects to those who have served in past conflicts and those still serving today, Adelaide Cemeteries are proud to host a Remembrance Day service at West Terrace Cemetery. Facing the Cross of Sacrifice – veterans, dignitaries, families and students gather to pay their respects and reflect on the sacrifices made.

The service will take place on Monday 11 November 2024 in the Australian Imperial Forces section of West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide.
