From today, face masks will be available to collect from the Adelaide Cemeteries Visitor Centre located at Enfield Memorial Park. 

These 3-pack of disposable face masks will be available to collect between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Adelaide Cemeteries has reinforced its commitment to the South Australian community, becoming the first cemetery operator in Australia to gain the internationally recognised ISO 14001 Environmental Certification. Accreditation was awarded after auditors approved Adelaide Cemeteries’ environmental management system covering Enfield Memorial Park, Smithfield Memorial Park, Cheltenham Cemetery and West Terrace Cemetery.

Ever since Colonel William Light laid out the City of Adelaide in 1837, West Terrace Cemetery has served the resting place of pioneers, politicians, war heroes, suffragettes and ratbags alike. Today, this State Heritage Listed landmark is home to more than 150,000 souls and rich stories about their amazing lives.

When the lives of those living and working within the western suburbs of metropolitan Adelaide are touched by death they have inevitably sought to create a lasting memorial at Cheltenham Cemetery. This community cemetery continues to provide a place to remember and be remembered, as it has for more than a century.

While the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority seeks to preserve as much of the cemetery’s heritage value as it can, it must balance this with the need to make available space for future generations to be interred.

Historical and cosmopolitan, Cheltenham Cemetery continues to be a popular choice with Adelaide families. Recent redevelopments within the cemetery have resulted in nearly a hundred new Lawn Beam burial sites becoming available. These sites are perfect for those who wish to place a traditional headstone. To ensure there is capacity for future generations at Enfield Memorial Park, the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority is carrying out a review of land that may be made available for future sale. 

This review has focused on sites within existing cemetery grounds that have had no interments and where the interment right has now expired.
